Saudi AQAR plans up to $480,000 strategic investment in Syria’s Doushesh: Saudi Arabia-based real estate platform AQAR has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Syrian classifieds company Doushesh, paving the way for a strategic investment of up to $480,000 to support the platform’s growth and expansion in Syria.

Under the proposed transaction, the investment will be structured through a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE). The capital is expected to be deployed in multiple tranches, with funding linked to Doushesh achieving mutually agreed growth milestones.

The MoU was signed by Ibrahim Al-Shehail, CEO of AQAR, and Alaa Al-Din Zarzour, CEO of Doushesh.

Expanding Syria’s Digital Classifieds Market

Founded in 2025 by Alaaeddin Zarzour and Zafer Odabashi, Doushesh operates a digital classifieds marketplace serving the Syrian market. Its platform covers a broad range of categories, including real estate, vehicles, electronics, furniture, jobs and services.

The proposed investment is aimed at accelerating the development and expansion of Doushesh’s classifieds platform while strengthening the digital infrastructure supporting Syria’s real estate and classified advertising sectors.

The partnership comes as Syria’s emerging technology and entrepreneurial ecosystem begins attracting greater attention and interest from regional investors and companies seeking opportunities in the country’s digital economy.

Regional Investment Interest

For AQAR, the agreement represents an opportunity to extend its regional footprint beyond Saudi Arabia’s real estate market and support the development of digital platforms serving related sectors.

For Doushesh, the proposed funding could provide additional resources to scale its technology, expand its marketplace and increase its reach among consumers and businesses across Syria.

Doushesh had earlier this year secured a pre-seed funding round, marking another step in the company’s efforts to establish itself in Syria’s growing digital classifieds market.

The latest agreement remains subject to the completion of the necessary terms and conditions of the proposed investment, with the capital expected to be released progressively as the agreed growth milestones are achieved.
