Jordan Startup Expo starts October 19

The two-day expo is the “number one gathering and only large-scale B2B conference and exhibition in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” said the organizer, the Future Event. It said the gathering is backed by the ministries of investment and digital economy and entrepreneurship.

It said the event will bring together the “country’s most innovative and emerging start-ups to meet and connect with the region’s leading cutting-edge solution providers, Venture Capital firms, Angel Investors, Accelerators, Incubators the start-up ecosystem in Jordan is ranked third in the Middle East & 64th Globally.”

The Jordanian StartUp development has both regional and international recognition, according to the statement. It said the “ecosystem is mostly shaped by young entrepreneurs in the ICT sector with prominent accelerators, Incubators, Angel Investors & Venture Capitals, Mentors, Coaches, and Government entities in Jordan.”

“There is a perceptible change in the way the Jordanian society views entrepreneurship and innovation in the Middle East,” the statement said. “Jordan Startup Expo is conceptualized to fuel this existing growth and help Startups Bridge the gap between idea to funding to discovering essential solutions and Infrastructure to scale and progress.”

The Jordan Startup Expo “brings together the most innovative and disruptive startups, along with C-Level executives from some of the top corporations, government agencies, incubators, investors, HNIs, VC funds, banks, and technology companies across the Middle East and Globally”.

The Jordan Startup Expo provided some key facts and figures on Jordan, such as the Kingdom “is one of the key players in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) forum”.

It said 98 percent of recently registered companies in Jordan are SMEs and startups, which generate more than 50 percent of private-sector GDP, and 60 percent of new employment opportunities.

It said 27 of World Economic Forum’s top 100 Arabian Startups are Jordan based.

As for startups environment, it said, more than 70 percent of the Jordanian population is under the age of 30.
